Finnish Koll-calling revolutionises everyday business life
The increase in scam and robot calls over the years has led to a phenomenon where people largely ignore calls from unknown numbers. For companies, this has meant that the working hours spent on managing relationships and sales are less productive, while at the same time placing a greater burden on employees. Companies and organizations are also eagerly considering how corporate responsibility can be implemented in customer service, sales, and communications. At the same time, as authorities and banks require strong authentication from their customers online and in telephone services, they are forced to consider how they can reliably get through important calls themselves. The Finnish innovation Koll takes calling to the level of reliability that society has long needed.
Fraudulent calls burden company operations
Fraudulent phone calls, which have become a persistent nuisance around the world and also in Finland, can be costly for both consumers and businesses. Globally, 500 million unwanted calls are made every day. Scam calls are referred to as vishing, a term derived from the words "voice" and "phishing," meaning data theft. This large-scale criminal business uses methods such as automatic IVR (Interactive Voice Response) and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology to spoof phone numbers and caller IDs. The phone numbers may appear to come from Finland, for example, but in reality they are generated from abroad and are virtually impossible to trace.
The high number of scam calls and unwanted sales calls has led to a phenomenon where even in Finland people no longer answer calls from unknown numbers: only a third of answer calls from unknown numbers (Fonecta study 2024). Women are even more cautious, with only 23% of women answering calls from unknown numbers ( Fonecta study 2024). As a result, it is difficult for authorities, doctors, or even recruiters to reach people who they have important information for.
Several telecom operators have invested in improving call security, and Traficom imposed new obligations on operators in 2022 to prevent caller ID spoofing and the transmission of scam calls to call recipients. In practice, this means identifying calls suspected of being fraudulent, warning callers about them, and preventing them from going through. This effectively prevents criminal activity, but does not solve the growing problem of getting necessary and important calls through. Technology developed by the Finnish Koll Group can be used to ensure that important calls get through.
"When calling with the Koll app, the recipient does not have to bother with finding out the number, because the name of the caller, the company from which the caller is calling and the reason for the call are extracted from the Koll app and this information is delivered to the recipient at the same time as the incoming call," says Hannu Nissinen, CEO of Koll Group.
Koll improves conversion and communicates corporate responsibility
Koll Group has developed the world's first service based on reliable caller identification. The Koll app always confirms the caller's name, company (if applicable), and, if the caller so wishes, the subject of the call. This solution enables companies to significantly improve their efficiency. The time needed to handle calls and deal with matters is reduced, the conversion rate of conversations improves, and the company's image as a reliable operator is strengthened. The Koll service identifies each user and makes scam calls impossible. It also ensures that you only spend your time on calls you want to receive and that your own contacts are much more likely to be answered.
"Already chosen by thousands of users, Koll is the responsible choice for secure communication between people."
Koll is a modern responsibility tool for customer service and all other stakeholder communications. When the recipient's phone notifies them of an incoming Koll call from your company, the app displays the caller's name, title, organization name, and even the subject of the call—the latter feature has been found to significantly improve the conversion rate of calls made by companies. The number of callbacks also increases when the recipient of an unanswered call sees the reason for the call.
Among other things, the Koll application, financed by the venture capital company Superhero Capital, is currently being exported abroad. The need to build a more reliable and secure society is global, and there is great interest in the Koll service. Already chosen by thousands of users, Koll is the responsible society's choice for secure communication between people.
