When a car dealership calls, the customer sees who they're answering

8 min

In a dealership the phone is still the most important tool. Service reminders, booking maintenance, trade-in offers, test drive confirmations, parts arrival notices. Most of these calls are useful to the customer – and most of them still show up on their screen as an unknown number.

Nobody avoids a service reminder. They avoid an unknown number.

Before: a number without context

  • An unknown mobile number in the middle of the working day.
  • The assumption is a sales call, so it goes unanswered.
  • The service advisor calls again tomorrow. And the day after.
  • The booking never happens, even though the customer wanted it.

After: an identified contact

When the same call arrives identified, the customer sees the dealership name, logo and reason before touching the screen. Answering is no longer a risk.

What it means in the numbers

Workshop utilisation, test drive show-up rate and used-car turnover all depend on the same thing: is the customer reached on the first attempt? When the answer rate rises, more bookings fit into the same day without making more calls.

  • Fewer attempts per booked service slot.
  • Fewer no-shows when confirmations arrive identified.
  • Fewer unanswered call-back requests.
  • A better customer experience before anyone enters the showroom.

The brand is built in the showroom, but first contact increasingly happens on the phone. It should look just as good there.
